Sandringham College Opening of New Discovery Centre

March 01, 2016

Murray Thompson, Member for Sandringham, today welcomed the formal opening of the new Discovery Centre at Sandringham College’s Bluff Road campus.

“I pay tribute to the vision, commitment and hard work of the Sandringham College Council under the successive leadership of School Principals and School Council Presidents” said Mr Thompson.

The auditorium in the Centre has been named after Ron Wakefield, immediate Past President of the School Council who provided great community leadership.

$6 million was committed to Sandringham College at the 2010 state election and delivered by the former Coalition government in the 2013/ 14 budget.

At the 2014 state election the Coalition had committed, in addition to the $6 million already delivered, a further $6 million to Sandringham College Holloway Road and $7 million towards the Beaumaris campus.

The President of the MCC, Mr Paul Sheehan had also announced a multi-million co-investment in sports facilities by the MCC foundation at the Beaumaris Campus for the benefit of the school, the MCC and the local community.

“The Sandringham College Bluff Road campus had a massive uplift in enrolments and I look forward to continued reinvestment in Sandringham electorate schools” Mr Thompson said.
