Train Cancellations on the Frankston and Sandringham linesDownload as PDF
August 30, 2016
The Member for Sandringham Murray Thompson questioned why Metro Trains Melbourne had not offered some of its drivers overtime to run services on Friday afternoon and Friday night trains instead of cancelling them on four consecutive Fridays in August.
Metro train trips being cancelled on a Friday afternoon or evening, until Friday 26 August include:
Frankston to Flinders Street: 6.04pm, 7.15pm
Sandringham to Flinders Street: 9.12pm
Flinders Street to Frankston: 4.34pm, 5.59pm
Flinders Street to Mordialloc: 6.31pm
Flinders Street to Sandringham 8.33pm
This means a 37 minute gap between trains for passengers travelling to stations Prahran to Sandringham inclusive.
Together with Melbourne Metro, the Victorian Government is refusing to build two new underground platforms at South Yarra. From 2026, this will mean extra crowding on Frankston line trains between South Yarra and Caulfield as Metro trains will have to cater for some passengers using South Yarra from the Cranbourne and Pakenham lines.
Not good enough!
